I’m a HongKonger living in Turkey

I believe “Nothing is Impossible”

Slowly integrating into life in Istanbul

As a flight attendant for a HK airline I have had the chance to step foot in 5 continents, getting a taste for many of the cultures around the world.

After 4 years flying and being in a long-distance relationship, I thought it was finally time to land. I followed my heart and moved to Istanbul, a fascinating city full of history.

But while the country as a whole was beautiful, local incidents in 2016 like terrorist attacks, political instability and the military coup made us re-evaluate our life and plans in Turkey. So my husband and I thought it would be a good idea to take a break from Turkey and we decided to travel as ‘digital nomads’ for at least a year and return when things got back to normal.

Time flew by, we visited Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Tokyo, Berlin & London plus some short trips between trips. Now things are more stable politically and we moved into an apartment in Istanbul.

Maybe you think this is the end of our voyage, but I don’t see it that way. I think this is a new voyage. Even though I have been in this city/country for a few years, there are still a lot of beautiful and amazing places left for me to explore.

I’m no expert about Turkey, I’m also learning and absorbing new knowledge about Turkish culture/cuisine/language everyday.

I would like to use this blog to share my life in Istanbul and hope this may be useful to those who’re interested in traveling to Turkey or might just be curious about what life in Turkey is like.

And so the voyage continues…
